Code of Conduct
Aim:
These simple rules are easy to follow and are intended to ensure that Bridgend County is a successful competitive swimming club whose activities can be enjoyed by all its members.
The Club expects members to behave in a polite and orderly manner at all times.
Members agree not to behave in any way that will bring the Club into disrepute.
Language must always be appropriate and socially acceptable.
Threatening or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated.
Bullying will not be tolerated in any form and members must be aware of the anti-bullying policy set out by WASA.
On joining the Club and changing squads, swimmers and parents must sign to confirm that they have read, understand and agree to abide by the Club’s Code of Conduct.
Swimmers will:
Behave in a safe and responsible manner at all times.
Obey instructions from pool stewards and coaches.
Respect the property of others.
Treat each other with mutual respect.
Support and encourage fellow team members in training and at competitions.
Be punctual for training and competitions.
Wear Club kit during competitions.
Display good sportsmanship, accepting success and defeat with equal grace.
Remember that seniority brings responsibility and that the highest standards of behaviour are expected from members in senior squads.
Parents will:
Ensure swimmers get to training in good time.
Keep in touch with Club activities by reading notice boards and the Club website.
Not enter the poolside unless requested by coaching staff.
Promote a responsible and disciplined attitude.
Support and encourage all swimmers, in training and at competitions.
Ensure their children behave responsibly in the changing areas.
Remain responsible for swimmers dropped off early or picked up late. The Club accepts no responsibility for swimmers left in this way.
Assist the Club in preventing bullying.
Coaches will:
Place the well-being, health and safety of members above all other considerations.
Comply with codes, rules and laws within the guidance of the ASA/WASA.
Promote compliance with the Club’s Code of Conduct.
Provide evidence of qualifications to the Club Committee upon request.
Conduct themselves to a high standard which reflects favourably on the Club and the sport.
Be punctual for training and competitions.
Wear Club kit during competitions.
